Attic flat in Scandinavian style with an industrial touch

Rehabilitation of an attic flat in Barcelona’s Sant Antoni neighbourhood Full rehabilitation project comprising interior design and construction management of a 145m2 housing in Barcelona’s Sant Antoni neighbourhood. Irene wanted to transform the two contiguous independent attic flats into a single flat with a homogeneous, practical and functional distribution where light would flood every room and where the family could enjoy a completely connected space which was simultaneously independent. Following the requirements brief of this large family, the intervention was based on the restructuring and modification of all the spaces. This was realized through a playful use of continuous materials, the luminosity conveyed by the predominant white colour, the restored original modernist elements’ strength and the new interventions performed. With all this unity and continuity were achieved throughout the home where we managed to create versatile and mobile spaces. Ensuring the spaces’ usefulness in the present as well as in the future and their adaptation to the family’s needs was taken into account. Developed together with Irene, the property owner who participated actively since the beginning in the design of the spaces, this interior design project produced an industrial look by recycling several of the original elements and the introduction of materials such as iron and hardwood.
